On the disallowed goal: "I just saw it, it looks more the shoulder than the hand. I saw it as a goal needs to be checked, it is the first time the referee revisits a goal. So either it is a mistake, so take it away. Or it's not a mistake, so it's a goal."

Right on 83 minutes, England thought they had snatched a draw after Jude Bellingham lashed the ball home from close range.

However, it was ruled out via VAR because of Levi Colwill's handball in the build-up.

Cheikh Sabaly then grabbed Senegal's third goal in stoppage time.

On Jude Bellingham's goal being disallowed, England captain Harry Kane told ITV: "If you know the rules it's not handball. That gets us back in the game and maybe we can go on and win the game, so it's a big moment. It's something we will discuss later."

A year to the World Cup, this team looks a million miles away from being able to compete.

It's a friendly, yes. But it's hard to spot any sort of pattern in England's play.

A chorus of boos greeted the final whistle. One fan in front of the press box screamed "disgraceful" at the end of the game. Another screamed "Tuchel out".

The natives aren't happy. No wonder.

England captain Harry Kane, speaking to BBC 5 Live: "This is only the manager's second camp and we have a lot of young players and inexperienced players at this level and international football is different to club football. But these aren't excuses, this is the reality. We have to be ready for the next season."

We thought we could come and see what Thomas Tuchel could do to this team. The next step in the development of this young, exciting team.

But actually it looks like we have taken a step back. It's back to the drawing board. Yes, it's a friendly but the experiment didn't work tonight.

Senegal were better and deserved it, and England go into the summer on the back of an eye-opening defeat.

A frustrating night for the Three Lions actually began well for them as they took the lead after seven minutes when captain Harry Kane pounced for his 73rd England goal.

That came after goalkeeper Edouard Mendy failed to hold Anthony Gordon's shot, but it was as good as it got for England, who were sunk by goals from Ismaila Sarr, Habib Diarra and Cheikh Sabaly.

And the visitors could have won by an even more convincing margin.

The storm of booing that greeted Thomas Tuchel and his England players at the final whistle summed up a miserable night for the German boss.

Thomas Tuchel suffered his first loss as England boss against Senegal at the City Ground on Tuesday.

It may only have been a friendly, but that poor performance has left many questions before the World Cup in only a year's time.
