Kagiso Rabada deserves it. It's 70 very vital runs from Beau Webster, though.

Beau Webster is caught at slip and the eighth wicket goes. Kagiso Rabada deserves that, he should've got him sooner.

Wide delivery, edged by Beau Webster, and comfortably pouched by David Bedingham at first slip to give Kagiso Rabada his fourth wicket.

It's been an excellent start to the evening session by South Africa. I wonder what Australia had for tea...

300 by the end of the day you say? Love seeing an Aussie collapse.

    Mike

Let’s be honest, we’ve all seen Australia bowl at Lord's before. 200 is likely plenty.

I think it's a good idea to keep Keshav Maharaj on for a few overs.

Even though Mitchell Starc would rather face him, it is unlikely for Australia to start the counter-attack after losing two wickets quickly.

You mentioned Australia's legendary pace attack @WritingDesk27 and you suspect Cummins and co will be enjoying what they're seeing the ball do on this pitch.

200 up for Australia in the 54th over.

@WritingDesk27 on X: I love the ICC WTC final and this is absorbing. I was thinking Carey would be key as he often makes timely knocks, but...!!! Now Cummins gone!! May be down to that legendary pace attack if Australia are to shift momentum....

Well, I saw two wickets early in the first session and now I've seen two wickets early in the third.

What total can Beau Webster shepherd Australia to?

There is so much reward for Kagiso Rabada on this pitch. I don't think South Africa need to chase Mitchell Starc too much.

It's another one for South Africa. Pat Cummins tucks his bat under his arm and marches off.

That looked like a good one.

South Africa's tails are up after removing Alex Carey.

They've stationed David Bedingham, helmet on, at silly point.

You suspect Australia would definitely be happy with 300 now.

A slightly different Alex Carey to what I , a very proactive Carey. That mindset of trying to attack has led to his downfall playing that reverse sweep.

Bowled him! Alex Carey goes for the reverse sweep and it goes around his pads.

Alex Carey goes for a reverse sweep and is bowled by Keshav Maharaj. Whoops.

That's somewhat less than ideal for Australia, who would have been hoping for a big partnership from Carey and Beau Webster.

In comes captain Pat Cummins, who's no slouch with the bat.

A single each for Beau Webster and Alex Carey to start the session.

What score would Australia be happy with at the end of the day, do you think? 300? More?

Webster makes half-century as Australia begin building run total

Smith wasn't able to propel Australia to an imposing total but Beau Webster still could.

He has thrived since Rabada and Jansen were taken out of the attack, moving to 55 from 69 balls, and the partnership of 44 from just 52 balls between him and Alex Carey has wrestled the momentum back from South Africa again.

It's intriguingly poised ahead of a long evening session.
